Noah Chilvers, 25, will make his first return to Colchester United on Saturday. He joined Oldham Athletic from Ross County for an undisclosed fee on a two‑year contract earlier this summer.
Background
Chilvers came through Colchester’s academy and spent 14 years at the club before leaving in 2024. He played 20 games in the second half of the 2023/24 season under managers Danny Cowley and Nicky Cowley, helping the U’s secure their place in League Two.
Move to Oldham
After a stint at Scottish side Ross County, Chilvers signed for Oldham Athletic on a two‑year deal. The fee was undisclosed. He has yet to break into Oldham’s starting XI, with the club’s depth highlighted by manager Danny Cowley.
Return to the Community Stadium
The 25‑year‑old will travel with the Oldham squad to take on Colchester United at the JobServe Community Stadium. The match is scheduled for this weekend.
Cowley’s Praise
"We love Noah – he’s a really good kid who loves his football," said U’s boss Cowley. "He’s technically a very good player and the fact that he hasn’t been able to find his way into the team says how strong they are. They’ve got him and Tom Pett who are not even in the starting XI – we’ve worked with them both and we know how good they both are. It does tell you a bit about the depth of their squad."
Injury History
Chilvers had a tough time in Scotland, suffering a serious ACL injury while at Ross County. Cowley noted the impact of the injury, saying, "I know how much that would have hurt him, because I know how much he loves playing."
Anticipation
Cowley added, "It’ll be good to see him on Saturday, because we have a lot of respect for him." The game will be played at JobServe Community Stadium on Saturday.
