Oldham Athletic complete signing of Gus Scott-Morriss

Oldham Athletic have signed Southend United wing-back Gus Scott-Morriss on a two-year deal. The 29-year-old scored 45 goals in 162 National League appearances for the Shrimpers and netted the winning penalty in the FA Trophy final at Wembley earlier this month.

Scott-Morriss told the League Two club's website: "I'll bring lots of energy, hopefully lots of output and I'll try to get a few goals and assists - but I'm a team player, I want to win."

What does this mean for Oldham?

Oldham finished 10th last season, 10 points adrift of the play-off positions, in their first season back in the Football League after three years in the National League. Scott-Morriss' deal has the option of a further year, although Oldham have not revealed whether it is in their favour or that of the player.

What comes next for Oldham?

Oldham's next fixture is away against Chesterfield on 20 February 2027. They are currently 15th in the table.
