Oldham Athletic manager Micky Mellon has reaffirmed his belief in Ryan Woods and Josh Hawkes despite their transfer listing. The duo remain part of the squad and could feature in the next fixture against Chesterfield (away, 2027-02-20) as Oldham sit 15th in the table.
Mellon emphasized that both players must earn their place, stating, "If you are here and Oldham Athletic are paying your wages, you have to go and earn them." Woods, who came off the bench in the opening-day win over Port Vale, demonstrated his value with a strong performance.
Despite being transfer-listed, neither player has attracted offers. Mellon remains open to discussions if a suitable opportunity arises but is happy with his squad depth. He praised Woods' impact, calling him "a talented lad who knows the game inside out."
