Bury have officially signed winger Jesurun Uchegbulam ahead of the upcoming NPL Premier Division campaign. The 24-year-old spent last season at Chelmsford Town but was part of the Oldham Athletic squad that secured promotion from the National League in 2024/25, featuring in the play-off final at Wembley. Uchegbulam began his career in AC Milan’s academy before moving to England at 15. He had spells at Stockport Town and Mossley before signing his first professional contract with Chesterfield in 2022. His standout moment came with Oldham, where he contributed to their promotion push. Manager Anthony Johnson praised his ability, noting his potential to thrive at Bury.
Johnson described Uchegbulam as a missing piece for the team. The manager believes Bury can provide stability after Uchegbulam’s recent nomadic career, allowing him to shows his skills. The winger’s versatility and pace make him a valuable addition as Bury prepare for the step up.
With Uchegbulam on board, Bury aim to strengthen further before the season starts. The Shakers face Chesterfield away on 20 February 2027, currently sitting 15th in the table. Johnson’s focus remains on building a competitive squad capable of challenging in the NPL Premier Division.
